The Pit Bull Attack
When I start a new route, I try to stay very alert and get to know where the dogs live. Most people have dogs. Some are larger than others and each breed is different. I had a call that was built on a side of the mountain. It is so steep, there that the city couldn’t build a road in front of this house. You have a sidewalk of 98 steps running between two parallel roads. There are 2 houses built there. One of the homes had a dog. This looks like the dog that was tied many times out in the yard. The yard was sloped, not one inch of the yard was flat. Each time I came to this place, and the dog was tied to a tree on the slope. The dog would pull to the end of the chain. and pull as hard as he could. he would growl, show his teeth and try hard to get to me. I would have to wait for the people to come out sometimes. Other times the dog would be in the house and I would consider that an good day. But I was afraid he would be just coming out as I get to the mailbox.
Well sure enough, I go to their property this one afternoon. Now sign of dog. I go threw a gate and onto a deck area, place the articles in the box and was turning to leave. When a red headed fellow poked his head out of the door. He must of heard me. He was asking me if I had anything for him. When all of sudden the dog charged out the open door and was heading for me.As soon as I saw this I faced him as quickly as I could but he hit me in the back of the leg. As he did the fellow realizing what was about to happen, he started calling the dog and completed a football tackle on the dog. As this was happening I couldn’t get the gate open and it finally opened. It opens the wrong way so I pulled the gate and turned around so I had the gate between me and the dog. But I was trapped against the wall of the house.
The fellow was loosing his grip but was able to hang on at the dogs groan. He stood up with dog holding tightly by back legs.I realized then it was okay to move and I removed myself from the yard and closed the gate.
The guy was able to put the dog back into the house and he was so apologetic and asked if I was okay. I left the property and walked up the steps, About 45 steps up, when I reached the top step I had no more energy and the tears and crying started. I was so scared and so exhausted I finished my route which I was almost done.
Before I reached the office I had a wonderful customer who came across me in the back lane and she walked with me to the office. I went to the doctors right away. I dog was removed that afternoon. I was not bitten. Praise The Lord.
excuse me ma’am, but the dog that “looks” like the pit bull is not. ok, first of all that dog in the picture isnt even a Pitbull (even i knew that) it actually looks a lot more like a Alano Espanol , your not the only one who has done this before. this is the problem:
News people and media give out false identification on dogs calling other breeds that LOOK like a pitbull (but most of the time arnt) a pitbull. its really a huge mistake because some dogs that look similar to pitbulls but are not that are really Alpha blueblood bulldog, Dogos Argentinos,Ca De Bou’s (the list goes on) they all call them pitbulls WHEN THEY ARE NOT! recently i was looking at a news artical about a pitbull attack, and sure enough the picture of the culprit wasnt even a pitbull but was actually a BOXER! seriously people, if you go around preaching about all the news articles of the dog attacks and the dog that is a pitbull, make sure you know or the writer knows what they are talking about.

Thank you for commenting on my site. I appreciate the feed back. I am sorry if it offended you, i called it a pit bull attack because the owners of the dog called their dog a pit bull. I posted that picture as a look a like. It is not a picture of the dog that attacked me. The attacking dog was put down because i wasn’t the first human he attacked. So therefore, i could not get a picture of the actual dog that did the attacking.
Secondly, the story was written to help me get over all of my attacks, not to bash a breed of dogs.
I DID NOT SAY ‘EVERY’ DOG OR PIT BULL are the same as the one i knew. I never said every back man robs and shoots nor did i say anything about Muslims,7-11, gay or otherwise.
Please reread and hopefully you will get the proper message i was trying to rely in the story.
